Hand tool furniture makers measure four times, cut to the waste side of the line, and then use planes, rasps, floats, and files to get it to the nearest thirty-second of an inch. Which explains why carpenters can do it for a living, and hand tool woodworkers marry spouses with well-paying jobs.
